Western medicine, Eastern medicine, combinations thereof – we enjoy a huge amount of liberty and choice in American healthcare. And thanks to free market innovations, our choices in healthcare continue to expand! In the first half of Episode 17, Ross speaks with professional acupuncturist Liz Mierendorf about why she turned her passion for helping people relieve their pain into a career through holistic Chinese medicine and world travel. In the second half of the show, Ross speaks with Dr. Peter Clagnaz, Medical Director of Psychiatry at Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Florida, about the intersection of capitalism and free markets with the healthcare industry – and what the intersection means for healthcare innovation.
Liz Mierendorf is a lifelong athlete who studied sports medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. But during a fellowship in New England, she discovered holistic Chinese medicine – and discovered a life passion at the same time. Liz now serves as a professional acupuncturist in the Madison, Wisconsin area.
But Liz’s passions don’t end with helping people with their physical pain. She’s passionate about helping others with their financial pain as well. So – in addition to practicing acupuncture – Liz also serves as an independent rep for World Ventures to help people travel the world and make money at the same time.
